Abstract

This study aims to explore the post-pandemic transformation of Islamic education through digital learning, spiritual formation, and pedagogical innovation in Pontianak City, West Kalimantan. The study responds to the growing use of digital platforms in Islamic education after the Covid-19 pandemic, especially in relation to how teachers maintain religious values, learning interaction, and spiritual guidance in technology-mediated environments. This research employed a qualitative case study approach. Data were collected from three Islamic educational institutions, consisting of one madrasah, one integrated Islamic school, and one Islamic boarding school, from September to December 2025. The participants included Islamic education teachers, institutional leaders, curriculum coordinators, students, and parents, selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews, limited participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed using thematic analysis. The findings reveal that digital learning has shifted from an emergency response to an adaptive pedagogical practice. Digital media function as learning tools, spaces for religious interaction, instruments for monitoring worship and memorization, and media for creative religious expression. However, spiritual formation still depends on teacher role modeling, habituation, personal communication, and parental support. The study concludes that digital transformation in Islamic education should be understood as a social, pedagogical, and spiritual process. These findings imply the need for value-based digital pedagogy, teacher training, ethical guidelines, and stronger collaboration between schools and families.
